Labour + Libdem Vs Conservative (Torries)?

I am Pondering the thought : “Why dont labour and liberal demorcrats form a coaltion to be better positioned against the conservatives for the next general election?”
Some thought I had about people voting attitude (my personal understanding)
Lots of normaly labour voting people will not, due to theevents from the Blair and Brown era (although Brown came in at a really bad time credit crises war etc)
Lots of Libdem voters do not know if to vote Labour (try and back a near/majority party) or Libdems (prefer the ideas but will not have a mijority in parliment)
Lots of Conservatives hit hard also by the crises!

I would like to know would it be possible and if yes, why not?

No it wouldn’t.
The Liberal Democrats have their own agenda which they want implemented and seek to maximise their vote.
What happens in the event of a hung parliament – still a possibility – that’s when they might consider coalition.
Why give away their bargaining power before they know how strong each party is?
Oh,and they don’t trust New Labour!
